Engineering Internship – Public Works/Engineering Division
The Village of Homewood is seeking a candidate for a summer engineering internship position in the Public Works Department/Engineering Division.
Job Description/General Duties: Intern position performs moderately technical engineering duties. Work is performed under the direction of the Public Works Project Coordinator and/or Village Engineer, as assigned. Work may involve pavement and sidewalk condition evaluations; inspection of methods and materials used in the construction of roadways, curbs, sidewalks, and other public improvements; review and interpretation of construction plans and specifications; assistance with surveying for Village projects; measuring of quantities used in construction projects and other statistical data collection; office related functions including data entry, computer aided drafting, filing and scanning; interaction with the public, contractors and Village employees.
Qualifications (Education & Experience):
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Current standing Junior, Senior, or Graduate student currently enrolled in a college-accredited curriculum in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Have effective written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Bluebeam, preferred
Salary: $18.00 per hour
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm
Employment Duration: May 2026 – August 2026 (12 weeks)
