APWA IRSP STIPEND APPLICATION

ATTENTION:
Illinois Roads Scholar Candidates and Illinois Public Works Professionals
This Spring, consider training your front-line staffers at the Illinois Roads Scholar Program (IRSP) running from May 5th -9th, 2025 in Effingham, IL.

The IRSP is supported by the American Public Works Association (APWA) Chicago Metro Chapter and offers a fun, comprehensive training program over a three-year cycle. For one week per year, front-line workers will be trained in various public works field services, including:

  • Safety
  • Live Line Training
  • Trenching and Shoring
  • Snow & Ice Controls
  • Traffic Incident Management
  • GIS and Asset Management
  • Flagger Training
  • OSHA 10-Hour Course

Participants who successfully attend all three training years will be designated as an “Illinois Roads Scholar.”

STIPENDS: Each year, the Chicago Metro Chapter offers $595 stipends to offset the $799 registration fee, supporting front-line workers’ careers with this training. If you have already enrolled and paid for this training, you are still eligible to apply for and be awarded a stipend!
