Job Description

The Engineering Department is committed to long-term infrastructure investment. Comprehensive, up-to-date studies and analysis of water mains, bridges, ravines, streets, and storm sewers support the community in meaningful and lasting ways.

Make an impact in a beautiful community through complex, high-impact infrastructure projects that shape daily life for residents. This role works in a collaborative team environment and regularly interacts with residents, elected officials, contractors, and consultants. The position partners closely with other City departments, including Community Development, Streets, Water & Sewer, Forestry, and City Hall.

Examples of Duties
-Oversight and management of CIP infrastructure projects, inspection of residentialconstruction projects, and review of private-permit plans.
Performing field surveys and engineering studies.
-Computation of quantities of earth work, paving material, concrete and other construction material.
-Develop and design municipal capital improvement projects relating to pavement resurfacing, sanitary and storm sewers, watermains, and parking lots.
-Perform detailed cost estimating of projects, as well as assisting with the annual budget process.
-Preparation of plans, specifications, and contracts for municipal construction projects.
-Perform research of records such as plats of survey and plats of subdivision.
-Corresponding with and responding to contractors and residents.
-Work on various projects and initiatives, such as: Pavement patching, resurfacing, and sidewalk projects; Vehicle and pedestrian bridges; Storm sewer and water main replacement, sewer lining, and water main upgrade projects; Intersection widening projects

Qualifications
-Working knowledge of field surveys, project design, plan and specification development, construction inspection, and construction management
-Proven experience managing municipal infrastructure projects and capital improvement projects from initiation through completion (municipal engineering experience highly desirable)
-Experience coordinating and communicating with contractors, engineers, and property owners
-Experience with CAD software, including MicroStation, highly desirable
-3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering or project management

Full Benefits Package

Expected hiring range: $84,269 – $89,710, depending on qualifications
Full salary range: $84,269 – $116,915, annual progression based on merit
