All equipment is to be provided, and no special skills required as this is intended as both a starter and/or a refresher course. Participants will spend approximately half of their time in the classroom, and the remaining half outside for hands-on experience.

- Recognize common survey equipment and its uses.
- Learn the fundamentals of elevations, benchmarks, and coordinates.
- Set up and operate basic surveying equipment.
- Collect simple field measurements and points.
- Understand how survey data supports public works projects.
