Job Description
The Village of Bensenville, IL (population 18,813) seeks a full-time Engineer I in the Public Works Department. Engineer I is an entry-level position that supports engineering functions in the Village’s Public Works Department and reports to the Engineering Manager. The role involves both office and fieldwork, including plan reviews, plan preparation, construction inspections, project management, and consultant coordination. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on municipal engineering experience.
The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge in Public Works functions of Engineering, Capital planning, and inspections. A positive outlook, sense of humor with a “can-do” attitude, and a style that supports learning on the job, teamwork, collaboration, and positive relationships are essential attributes. In keeping with the Village’s commitment to customer service, the Engineer I will think beyond the situation, be flexible within reason, work closely with other Village departments, anticipate problems before they develop, and provide excellent customer service. The position requires strong verbal, written, interpersonal, analytical, and computer skills.
The job requires outdoor physical activity in various weather conditions with frequent lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds.
