Special Events
The Planning Committee is responsible for planning, budgeting, and implementing various events for PWX.
To assist in planning these events, there are five subcommittees under the Planning Committee:
Prizes & Mementos, Sessions, Sports, Spouse/Guest Event, and International & YP.

National Board Reception
The American Public Works Association (APWA) National Board Reception, an exclusive gathering bringing together public works leaders, industry professionals, and APWA board members from across the country. Get Acquainted Party

- Brewery Tour – West Loop -Saturday – Tickets are selling fast! Discover the flavors of the city’s vibrant craft beer scene on this guided brewery tour through the historic West Loop. Enjoy Chicago food and drink and unwind with great company – a great way to kick off your PWX week!
- 5K Fun Run – Monday (new date) –Lace up your running shoes and join us for a scenic 5k Fun Run along Burnham Harbor and Lake Michigan — a great way to get moving, meet fellow attendees, and take in iconic Chicago views. All paces are welcome!
- Golf Outing – Wednesday (new date) – Finish up your PWX week on the links with fellow PWX attendees at our annual Golf Outing scramble. Enjoy a day on one of Illinois’ Top 10 public courses! Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just playing for fun, it’s a perfect way to network in a relaxed setting.

How about spending an unforgettable evening at Wrigley Field with fellow APWA members? The Chicago Metro Chapter has secured discounted tickets for Monday night’s Cubs vs. Brewers game (7:05 PM start)! Grab your tickets here!
Why the Bleachers?
The Wrigley Field bleachers are legendary – general admission seating with an unbeatable atmosphere. Expect high energy, great views, and the best ballpark vibes in all of baseball! We’re encouraging everyone to head to Sections 506 and 507, where we’ll gather as a group of Public Works professionals. But don’t worry – you’re free to snag a seat anywhere in the iconic stadium!
Game Day Details:
• Gates open at 5:35 PM – Arrive early to soak in the pre-game excitement!
• Getting There: For the ultimate local experience, take the Cermak-Chinatown Red Line, just a 15-minute walk from McCormick Place (turn right out of the building and follow Cermak). The $2.50 ride gets you to Addison Station in about 25 minutes, with trains running every 2-10 minutes.
Can’t make it on Monday?
No problem! If you can’t make it Monday, discounted tickets are also available for other games during this homestand (Saturday, Tuesday, and Wednesday). Just use this link for other dates: cubs.com/APWA25.
