The Village of Wauconda (population of 14,125) located in Lake County, Illinois is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Service Technician in the Public Works Department. This employee would report to the Streets/Forestry/Collections section.
This position requires operating a variety of equipment and vehicles utilized in construction, – maintenance and repair activities and performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in street maintenance, snow and ice control, storm drainage systems, public sewer systems, and building maintenance. Applicants should have a background in construction, carpentry, electrical and/or facility maintenance, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Lift Station experience and Fleet/Equipment Maintenance experience are highly desirable.
Applicants are required to possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a valid State of Illinois Class B Commercial Driver’s License with a tanker endorsement or obtain one within 120 days from date of employment; the Village may provide training to obtain this license. Candidate must have the ability to be on call and/or work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, extended and non-standard hours. This includes participation in snow and ice control operations and other Public Works operations as directed. Successful candidates must complete/pass a background check, a pre employment physical, and a drug screen.
